2001.07.13 Montreux Jazz Festival - Re-master V.03 1st Gen

2001.07.13 Montreux Jazz Festival - Re-master V.03 1st Gen

Lineage: Soundboard DAT (PIAS promo recording) > CD-R (1st gen) > EAC v0.99 prebeta 5 (Secure Mode) > FLAC > Abode Audition 3 > FLAC > you
Quality/Performance: 100/100

This is the 3rd time now this concert has appeared here but with very good reason. This final version, presented here I have mastered from a 1st generation copy of the original, kindly passed to me by Einzak.
I must stress this version sounds nothing like the other versions we have heard to date. This definitive Master is nothing short of superb in every way. Whilst the original had a wonderful, calm, mellow sound, this final Master sounds Epic!
A lot of work went into this master and I now feel completely satisfied with this particular concert and feel excited for fans and new comers to Sigur rós to experience the band at their very best. You can also download this via torrent over on Dimeadozen .

  1. Hello,
hope this is not a bother, since I truly appreciate what you've done here, but I just Downloaded the "FLAC" version of "2001.07.13 Montreux Jazz Festival - Re-master V.03 1st Gen" and the 3rd part has some corruption (CRC reduncy) problem - both WinRAR & Stuffit decompress only song No9 - #10&11 are corrupted. Could you, please look into this? Thanks

  2. Brilliant website! Track No 9 now appears to be completely missing.

  3. This is an amazing website. Thank you very much for maintaining it. But I notice that, since you provided a new link to Part 3 of the FLAC version of the Montreux concert, track 9 is no longer available. Is it possible to correct this?

  5. thanks so much for this. blown away by the quality. Can I ask of these *top ten concerts* which is your personal favourite? I guess it is a hard pick since they all vary. Also, I would like to hear your thoughts on the sound mix for Inni?

  6. Hi Rorxy. Inni... I thought the mix was very bad (sorry Jonsi!) It sounds like a mono recording. You do get the occasional cymbal being hit slightly off to one side but that's about it. I guess people have different preferences for live recordings. The main thing I offer here is (wherever possible) a chance to hear the concerts as they actually sound live, rather than just a slightly different sounding 'CD version' which over all I find works very well. The best example of this would be the Portland show from 2008 which sounds epic! My main listens out of all these would be this one, Montreux 2001, St Andrews Cathedral 2001, International Forum Japan 2003, Icelandic Opera House 1999. I also love the special edition Remastered Vinyl's done by the guys at Abbey Road Studios London. If you have good enough equipment/phones these versions are far far superior to the original releases, especially ( )
Im looking forward to immersing myself into Valtari :) jon
