2013.09.02 Roundhouse, London, UK [Re-Master]

2013.09.02 Roundhouse, London, UK [Re-Master]

Lineage: 88,200 / 32bit > Ozone 5 Mastering Suite > dither 16/44
Quality/performance: 100/100

The band really gave it there all on this one. Many smiles were exchanged during the performance. During E-bow especially you can hear Jónsi adding subtle embellishments which he only does when everything is very much on form and he is happy!
One benefit from a recording such as this is that you hear clearly many of the more subtle elements in the mix that are usually missed in the totality of the sound. The sound itself is very big and colorful which works very well in the context of the video and with closed eyes imagining you are there!
Superb mixing on this, the soundstage is particularly well done. There were, as expected no dynamics on the nriginal although it was far better than some. I corrected this to some degree. I didn't do much to the audio, mainly lifted the voice and audio and a few tweaks here and there.
Over all this is beyond superb hence the 100/100 score. It just sounds so much like how the experience of a Sigur Rós concert is. Wonderful

Probably one of the best shows Ive heard from Sigur Rós. The played their hearts out and gave this show their very all (similar to the Thursday night) ...although they were all pretty awesome! Jónsi in particular was again truly on form.
This the 3rd night of 3 played in London found Sigur Rós in a similar powerful state as on the previous thursday! Recorded in exactly the same position, same levels, same master as the 7th & 8th.

Probably one of the best shows Ive heard from Sigur Rós. The played their hearts out and gave this show their very all  (although they are all pretty awesome!) Jónsi in particular was truly on form. I wasn't sure if my battery hungry recorder would be happy for a whole show in 24bit so it was a bit of a gamble but my goodness it payed off!
A perfect follow up to the previous evening with tracks played here that they didn't play the previous evening! Recorded in exactly the same position, same levels, same Master as the 7th

12.02.2003 Hammersmith Apollo, London - Re-master

12.02.2003 Hammersmith Apollo, London - Re-master

Lineage: Unknown AUD
Quality/Performance: 70/100

The first concert here of the 2003's is a great introduction to quite a different feel and line up of new songs and some new versions. Vaka has a new beginning & ending and some changes to Svefn-G-Englar (although it wasn't sung here) A very slow and wonderfully emotive early version of Gong makes its first appearance along with Starálfur, E-Bow Guítardjamm and  Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása.
Not a great quality but the energy and inclusion of new songs makes this a worthwhile post

Set List:

01 Vaka
02 Mílanó
03 Starálfur
04 Njósnavelin
05 Ny Batterí
06 Samskeyti
07 Gong
08 E-Bow
09 Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása

2002.04.21 Odin's Raven Magic - Barbican Centre UK - Re-master

2002.04.21 Odin's Raven Magic - Barbican Centre UK - Re-master

Lineage: Unkown
Quality/Performance:95/100

The re-mastering of this amazing concert has breathed new life into what is a modern classic. I have removed all clapping in the interludes so you have a pretty much seamless concert.
There is some excess noise on the first two tracks which unfortunately came with the original, I tried to EQ them out but in the end I have just left them so as not change the track as a whole. Sorry.
If you havn't got this one get it, if you have it already be sure to download this re-mastered version - its well worth it

Setlist:

1. Chapter 1 7:21
2. Chapter 2 8:07
3. Chapter 3 7:47
4. Chapter 4 10:17
5. Chapter 5 6:22
6. Chapter 6 9:18
7. Chapter 7 21:20

This score is based on a lost chapter of the bible of norse mythology, the edda.

the edda was originally an unwritten oral history of heathen and early christian scandinavia, where the region's isolation led to a long changeover period to organised religion around 1000ad. the stories, myths and legends of heroic deeds and nordic strife were collected together by persons unknown sometime during the 12th and 13th centuries, before being recorded by danish scholars during the 17th century.
in the 19th century the authenticity of one of the chapters was questioned by a later generation of academics, and 'odin's raven magic' was excised from the text, adjudged as a 15th century fake. now some 150 years later new research has concluded that 'odin's raven magic' was indeed authentic and this autumn it is finally being reintroduced to the edda. it is the loss, and subsequent rediscovery, of this hidden history that sigur rós and hilmar örn hilmarsson are marking here.

Fantastic concert, short but including two quite rare tracks, Syndir Guðs and one of the Rímur songs. Excellant quality with only a little bit of 'FM radio crackle' noticeable during quieter moments.
